Gravity-fed hopper feeds the coals so you’re not standing over it with a chimney and a prayer. Set the temp on the digital controller, let the fan do the work, and get charcoal flavor with the kind of hold you expect from a smoker built for a shift, not a Sunday. Runs low and slow for a shoulder or ribs, then opens up hot enough to sear once the bark’s set. One grate, two jobs, less tending. Good for the cook who wants real smoke without feeding a fire every twenty minutes through an eight-hour cook.

What cooks are saying
  • 01Set-it temperature control frees hands for other prep during long cooks
  • 02Charcoal flavor without the constant fire management of a stick burner
  • 03Wide temp range covers both low-and-slow smoking and hot searing
How I actually use it

I run the 600 wood-only rather than the charcoal-plus-wood Masterbuilt advertises. The hopper feeds splits fine and you get real smoke instead of charcoal with a wood accent, which is the whole reason to own a gravity feed over a pellet grill. Pair it with a Fireboard for probe logging and a conversion kit and it holds a temperature overnight without me getting up to it. The design and the technique are the same across the range — only capacity changes.

Why the pros use it

On a line where you're running six things at once, a smoker that holds its own temperature earns a spot. This one lets you load it, set it, and walk away to work the rest of the pass, which is the difference between a smoker you use on Sundays and one you use on Tuesdays too.
