This is a small fired block, glazed on top, matte underneath, with a shallow groove cut for the chopstick tips to sit in. That groove is the whole design. It keeps sauce and oil off the tablecloth and stops the sticks from rolling onto the plate rim when someone sets them down mid-meal. Kinto makes these in a few finishes, and the edges are soft enough that stacking a set in a drawer doesn’t chip the glaze. It washes clean in a normal cycle, no hand-wash caveat, no faded print after a year. Buy a set of six or eight and your table setting stops looking like it was borrowed from four different restaurants.

Every point is a price this site read on the maker's own page on the day shown. It is not a market low, and it is not scraped from a price tracker — it is only what we have seen ourselves. Today's price is the lowest we've recorded.

What cooks are saying
  • 01Cooks like that it actually stays where you set it down, not skating around when the table gets bumped
  • 02People notice the glaze holds up wash after wash instead of dulling or picking up stains
  • 03Buyers tend to grab a full matching set rather than one, since mismatched rests look like an afterthought
Why the pros use it

I set a lot of tables for people who cook for a living, and the detail that gets noticed first is never the plate, it's whether the small stuff matches. A chopstick rest this plain does one job and does it without drawing attention: it holds the sticks level, it doesn't stain, and it doesn't go missing in the dish rack because it's oddly shaped. That's the whole pitch. Buy enough of them that nobody at the table ends up resting their chopsticks on a folded napkin.
