A bud vase is honest work: one stem, maybe two, and nothing to fuss over before people sit down. This one is thrown in stoneware and glazed solid, so the color holds through years of washing instead of going chalky or thin at the rim. The base is narrow enough to tuck between plates and glasses without crowding the table, and the opening is sized for a single flower head or a short cutting from the yard, not a whole bunch. It sits low, so it never blocks anyone across from you. Buy two or three in different glazes and let them do the work a bigger centerpiece usually does, with less water to change out.
Most bud vases either tip over or try too hard. This one earns a spot because it does one job and stays out of the way while doing it: narrow footprint, low center of gravity, glaze that reads clean under any light in the room. It washes like stoneware should, no hand-wringing about it going in with the rest of the dishes. For someone who sets a table for a living and gets tired of decorative things that need babying, that's the whole pitch.
