This is stoneware, glazed by hand, so no two platters match exactly, and that’s the point. The 9x14 size holds a roast chicken with room for potatoes, or a spread of cheese and fruit for people standing around a counter. The rim is low enough that food doesn’t hide, high enough to keep sauce from running onto the table. It’s heavy enough to feel substantial in your hands without being awkward to carry to the table. The glaze is thick where it pools at the edges, thin over the high points, so the color shifts across the surface instead of sitting flat. Dishwasher safe. It goes in a cabinet stacked with its own kind and holds up over years of actual use, not just photos.
Most platters are either delicate enough to need hand washing or plain enough to disappear on the table. This one splits the difference. The stoneware body takes a dishwasher cycle without dulling, and the glaze gives it enough presence that it holds its own next to good food instead of fading into the background. Someone who buys crockery for a living picks pieces that survive years of stacking and washing without chipping at the rim, and this holds up under that kind of handling while still looking considered when it's set out.
