We earn nothing on this one. It’s here because it’s good, and the link goes to Farmhouse Pottery.
This is stoneware, thrown heavy enough that it stays put when a tablecloth gets tugged or someone reaches across for bread. The base is wide and glazed flat on the bottom, so it sits true on an uneven farmhouse table instead of wobbling next to a full plate. The glaze runs thick in some spots and thin in others, the kind of variation that means no two look exactly alike off the shelf. It holds a standard taper without stuffing wax underneath to make it fit. Wax runoff wipes clean off the shoulder, no pitting in the glaze for it to catch on. Set one down the center of the table or put two at either end.
Anyone who buys tabletop pieces for a living checks the base first, before the glaze or the shape. This one is flat and heavy at the foot, so it does not rock on a table that is not perfectly level, and the stoneware body takes a knock without chipping the way thin ceramic does. Because the glaze pools and thins unevenly by design, no two read exactly alike sitting on a shelf, which matters when you are trying to avoid anything that looks like a print run of table decor.
